recomBead CXCL13 ![]()
Fluorescence-based particle immunoassay for the quantitative detection of CXCL13 / BLC (BLC = B lymphocyte chemoattractant) in human cerebrospinal fluid.
The bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi is the causative agent of Lyme disease. The disease is transmitted to humans by ticks. Weeks to months after the tick bite, a disseminated infection of the nervous system called Lyme neuroborreliosis (LNB) can occur. In most cases of LNB, the clinical diagnosis can be confirmed by the detection of a Borrelia-specific intrathecal antibody response. However about 20% of early stage LNB cases present without an elevated antibody index. Moreover, intrathecal B. burgdorferi specific antibody production may persist long after successful therapy of LNB.
The B lymphocyte chemoattractant (BLC) CXCL13 is secreted by monocytes after interaction with Borrelia burgdorferi. B lymphocytes are attracted by increased CXCL13 concentrations in cerebrospinal fuid (CSF) and subsequently produce Borrelia-specific antibodies. After elimination of Borrelia the stimulus for CXCL13 secretion vanishes and CXCL13 concentration drops rapidly. CXCL13 is therefore considered a good diagnostic marker for acute LNB. It provides a high sensitivity in the early phase of acute LNB and is also suitable as a therapeutic marker.
The recomBead CXCL13 is a quantitative in vitro test for the detection of CXCL13 in human CSF on the basis of the modern Luminex® multiplex technology. The test system displays a very high sensitivity and precision in conjunction with a wide linear range. Due to multiplex integration, any additional controls are reduced to a minimum. Moreover the Luminex® platform provides a highly automated workflow.
Please note:
Each recomBead CXCL13 kit consists of two packing units PART A CXCL13 and PART B CXCL13. Both packing units are matched to each other. Please always order both packing units simultaneously in equal amounts.
